“… being a woman of strength & honor means to use each setback as an opportunity to learn and grow.” – Sharm

Sharm’s story is one of sickness, perseverance, persistence, and faith. After leaving her career to be a stay at home mom, she proved that you can be both an educated independent woman as well as a present parent. With more than 6 years of being out of the work world and recovering her illness, she continued to love people fervently and decided to venture back into the workplace full force, currently performing as one of her company’s top employees.

Her daughter says: “She is strong because she didn’t let peoples’ negative remarks about her age and gender stop her from achieving her goals. I feel that she is honorable because she put her family’s happiness before her own and never looks back on it – she truly leads by example. She is an inspiration to moms who feel that they have no place in the work world.”

Sharm says she lives this out in her day-to-day life by waking up each morning and being a role model for her kids. Being a mom for her means leading by example and instilling life long values in those you love the most.

She says: “I believe that being a woman of strength & honor means to use each setback as an opportunity to learn and grow — to be able to make the most of what I currently have and dream for better things to come.

My decision to get back into the workplace was fueled by my desire to beat the odds and pursue my dream career. It proves that stepping out of my comfort zone opened the door to a world of opportunities.

I suffer from anemia and have a thyroid dysfunction which prevented me from working and basically living as I normally would. My entire life felt like it was put on hold. I then realised it would be best if I quit my job and focused on raising my kids because that was the most important thing at the time. I was out of work for 6 years before deciding to dive back in regardless of everything else. It was a tough decision as I was giving up my suburban mom lifestyle and all the comforts that came with it. Nevertheless, I powered through and it was the best decision I ever made.

Recovering from my illness has taught me how to appreciate the little things in life and has shown me that nothing is impossible with the right attitude (and a smart pencil skirt!).”

And right you are, Sharm! We are SO proud to feature you as this month’s women of strength and honour. Thank you for showing us that anything is possible with the right attitude and mindset. We are not only an example to your children but also to all of us.

Enjoy your “smart pencil skirt” as a way to show thank you and way to go! We’re cheering you on from afar.

Is there a woman who comes to mind when you think of a woman of strength and honour? Someone who displays this in their everyday life whether it be corporate, motherhood, school, or just even when they’re around friends or family. We’d love to feature them on our site and give them a free pencil skirt as a gift of encouragement to keep pursuing their mission.

Fill out the form here to tell us a little bit more about this woman and why you believe she should be our Strength & Honour Woman of the Month.
